Burning It Up
I awoke to a rampant beeping noise from my living room. My computer had crashed and rebooted, and the video card was complaining of me not having connected the extra power cable to it. Since I had not fiddled with the cables, I was confused. My first thought was a bad power supply (it just recently crossed the three year mark), so I started disconnecting things, and it worked for long enough to reboot and have windows get upset about the video card. Then I decided to switch connectors to the video card and saw this:
Believe it or not, the video card still works.. *confused*

I’ve had the same thing happen with the Radeon 8500 or 9500, can’t remember what the model is.. Didn’t kill the card — similar to your problem.
