Buses = Teh Suck

I’ve been living in Bloomington, IN for almost 2 weeks now. I spent the first week at orientation meetings and so forth. The value of the content greatly varied, but I felt obligated to go anyways. The probably more entertaining part is how I got to those meetings.

The first day I was in-town I had nowhere to park and ended up parking in a garage that I had to pay.. ugh. Once I moved in the next day, I was able to park my car in the apartmet’s parking lot and leave it. But, my apartment is about 2 miles from the campus, a hefty walk. I knew there was a bus stop near by and that I could ride it into campus, so I planned on that.

First of all, I wasn’t a student get, so I had to pay ($0.75/ride) which sucked. Second of all, it was never on time. It is schedule to arrive hourly, but it was always off after even just the first loop, so by the time I was leaving campus it was off by almost a whole hour, so I would just miss it because “early.” Now that the school year has started, it is supposed to be every 20 minutes.. hah. I stood for 45 minutes yesterday only to have the bus ride by because it was already FULL.

Which brings up the other complaint, I have already rode two different buses that were full; it is a popular route in the morning of Monday’s and Wednesday’s, at least. And then there was the bus on yesterday that was already full. I fear it will be full again today since I am leaving around the same time again. It’s like you need to walk to the first pickup on campus because otherwise you will get screwed. I only luck out on the one’s coming inbound because I am on one of the very first stops.

The moral is that riding a bux makes you late and cause you to have to walk many miles. I have walked the distance at least 4 times now. I am afarid of this evening because I am in my “teacher clothing,” so if the bus doesn’t come on time.. I will be standing in the light rain that is going on right now, only to find out that the bus is full, and I will have to walk 2 miles to home.

Bleh. Buses = Teh Suck.
