For Now
Let’s see, to start things off, I will say that I am still waiting on replies from two different schools (UMass and GATech). If UMass were to accept me, then I would probably take them into consideration, but otherwise I am going to go with the offer from IU. A few days after I updated last, IU offered me the “Barwise Fellowship” which basically is a year with no duties (read: no teaching/research assisting required) and then 4 additional years of support. As my advisor told me, such a commitment from them is atypical. Furthermore, they expressed an on-going interest in the type of research I would like to do. So, yah, unless UMass tells me something good, that’s probably the final verdict.
This past week I had to do a poster presentation on my thesis for my degree. I basically had to make a large poster, stand in front of it, and talk people through it whenever they would come by. When I began this project, I thought I was always slacking off (because I was) but I came to find out that most of the other thesis students aren’t even close to the progress I have had. So, my advisor being so impressed with me makes more sense. Everyone there assumed I was done, but I am going to be doing more in the next couple of weeks that will make for something publishable. Anyways, like the last week of classes, I have to give a full-on presentation.. like a 30 minute lecture type scenario, so this was just a dry-run.
Well, I am out of stuff for now.
