Failure, Rejection

I just finished finals.. I think I did pretty poorly. But, it is difficult to motivate me to do well since I can’t really affect my GPA at this point. I would have to get 4.0’s this quarter and the next to graduate with honors.. and well that wasn’t going to happen. I started the quarter with a 3.17 and to get honors you have to have 3.2, and having done the math, it just would not work out. Further, I’ve already sent off my records to the grad schools so I can’t influence that at all. So, yah, I am in just-pass-the-class mode. It would be nice to stay above 3.15 just so I can round it up to 3.2 when I talk to people, but I’m not gonna bust my ass for that conceit.

Speaking of grad schools, I have recieved two more responses, but rejections: one from Tennessee and the other from Purdue. So that settles the “IU versus Purdue” debate that people were going on with me about. All told, I am sitting at 1-2, not fairing very well. More bothersome is that getting a rejection notice is mostly a courtesy, the other places I haven’t heard from may well have just not bothered to tell me, and two of the four are much more difficult to get into places, so that’s not looking so hot. Don’t get me wrong, IU is fine, but it would be nice to have at least one other option.

Well, I am on quarter break this week coming week. I am supposed to use the time to put together some stuff from my research for a poster-presentation for the CS department. We’ll see how well I can motivate myself to do that. My webserver has been standing on one-leg for the past week, hopefully it doesn’t crash over break, so be gentle.

If it makes you feel any better, I think you are the only Sweeney grandchild to even go to grad school. As for the GPA, once you are out of school for a couple of years you won’t even remember what it was…altough I did graduate with honors and top in my class in the CS and Mathematics department (granted it was from a small, hole-in-the-gound, no-name college). I guess the brains come from being born in late March….

Once again congrats on the IU acceptance.

Excuse me but I’ll have you know that Rob is doing quite well in grad school in MO. So that makes 2 out of 13 the Sweeney family members to go to grad school. Since I stink at math I don’t know the percentage that is - 2/13ths.

Pat, Can’t you just give kudos to Scott and stop being so jealous of his success? Jeez, you stick him in a rat infested tenament, force him to eat Ramen noodles to sustain himself, and all you do is bitch, bitch, bitch. The kid got a free ride, Miss 2/13ths! No thanks to you, Missy! He had to wear a blanket to warm his scrawny shoulders from the cold, and do his homework by candlelight. Anyway, Wal-mart U is giving your application some serious thought, but due to the expense of building the new store in Zionsville, you have to pay for it yourself. I know it was on the top of your list, but IU isn’t too awfully bad for a community college. I, for one, am extremely proud of how you lifted youeself out of poverty and shame! Congratulations Scottrick! Eat some galumpkies and May the Force be With You.

And to the web thief, you are a braggart! You can’t just tell poor Scottrick congratulations, but have to ramble on about being tops in your class, top honors, highest GPA, and biggest weenie. Let it go! Your glory days are behind you and the only fame you have is because you stole PorkyPeg from me! Yes, it has made you rich, but are you happy Mr. 4.0? Don’t answer that. Money makes everyone happy regardless of the misconceptions others are taught to believe.

My apologies for forgetting Rob. I mean him no disrespect. I am just jealous that I only attended some rinky-dink college in the middle of nowhere while other family members get to go to grad-school at big name Universities.

What do you mean by rinky dink college, Jason? Wal-mart U has made you the financial wizard you are! Where else could you have learned to make a professional website of the caliber of Porkypeg? Not at some hoity toity Ivy League hall of learning! And all for a lower price. Will you be at the Alumni party slated for April 26, 2006 in Zionzville? I am cooking the hot dogs for the event in the Wal-mart cafeteria. Don’t forget your smiley face and sword as they are filming a movie of you slashing prices. Also, if any Zionsville residents get in your way, you are to slash them, as well.
