At Least There’s Always Indiana..

I woke up today to do my normal business in the morni.. ok, mid-midmorn.. ok, late-midmorning.. at best.. ok maybe it was afternoon, but it felt like morning. In my email’s inbox I find this email from Indiana:

Dear Mr. Dial:

It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been admitted to the Ph.D. program in the Computer Science Department, in the Graduate Division of the School of Informatics, and the University Graduate School, beginning in the Fall 2006 semester. Because of the quality of your application, we are also pleased to offer you two years of financial support while you work toward your Ph.D. degree.

So there you have it.. my first acceptance from a graduate school. So then at this point, a great weight has been lifted because no matter what, if no other schools accept me: at least there’s always Indiana.

In other good news, I seem to have won $120 worth in $5 BP gas cards. *evil grin*

Way to go Scott! I am so happy you are finally getting some responses. I will not go into how you came to win all the gas cards. There may be law enforcement reading this. Debbie would be proud of you.

So, I take it the school’s in Indiana, but what is it called? I am hoping you have been accapted at Zionsville University. I hear that Boone County is a great place to live. If grad school doesn’t work out, there is always room for you in one of my films. Hey, let me in on your gas card game. I’m always up for illegal schemes and scams. After all. Jeffrey Feiger is on retainer because of Peggy’s antics and thievery. Congratulations! Love, Your Aunty

PS) I do hope you’ve applied to Wal-mart University. I shit you not, there actually is one that they send our upper managment and interns to.

I think the girls are hotter at IU than Purdue. Errr.. I was always drunk either place.. Actually, I think it’s a toss-up. Purdue is closer to the Dial estate in Zionsville, so that would work better for bathroom breaks on your way back to the parents.

    Congrats!!! That is awesome..

Good job Scott! Of course I’m biased towards Purdue, but this is a great opportunity. However, I’ll share with you some of the pitfalls that my sister went through while getting her Phd after her BS. Make sure this program allows you get get a Masters midway. This will give you more opportunities for research grants, internships, and financial aide. I remember the stress that Liz went through during her last year of her Phd.

PS. Yes, the chicks are hotter at IU, but they are smarter at Purdue. :)
